The winter season at Black’s Fork River Lodge is a magical time of year. The snow on the ground, frost on the trees, and the ice on the river all sparkle in the sunlight and make the property shine and shimmer. Families enjoy time at the lodge for Christmas and New Years and for a weekend vacation. It is a beautiful and fun time of year for families to gather together and enjoy delicious food, games, and outdoor recreation. In this blog we will share some of our favorite winter activities for families to enjoy at Black’s Fork River Lodge.

During the winter months wildlife moves down the river from the mountains onto the property and spend much of the winter around the property drinking and eating along the Black’s Fork River near the lodge. One of our favorite activities during the winter months is to watch the moose, deer, and elk along the river from the back windows and deck of the lodge. Families will enjoy watching the wildlife and exploring the river together as they spend time with their family and friends.

Christmas and New Years is one of the best times of year to gather with family and eat delicious food while sitting by the fire. The main floor of the lodge has a wood burning stove and a great kitchen for cooking delicous meals. Families will have a wonderful holiday eating their favorite foods and sitting by the fire while watching their favorite holiday movies and catching up on old times and traditions.

The Uinta Mountains just above the lodge receive large amounts of now every winter and have some of the best snowmobiling in the United States. The Meeks Cabin Trailhead only 10 miles from the lodge is a great spot to access the beautiful Uinta Mountains. Snowmobiling is a great way to explore these spectacular mountains and there are hundreds of miles of snowmobile trails throughout the mountains. Exploring these amazing mountains and national forest is one of our favorite winter activities. It is a beautiful spot to snowmobile, snowshoe, or spend the day sledding and playing in the snow with your family. At the end of a long day playing in the snow and exploring the Uinta Mountains families will enjoy sitting by the fire together and soaking in the large hot tub after a long adventurous day in the mountains.

Black’s Fork River Lodge is beautiful any time of the year, but the winter season is especially gorgeous and peaceful and the perfect time for a family vacation. We hope to see your family this winter at Black’s Fork River Lodge!
