The snowmobile season here at Black’s River Lodge is just about over. It has been a great one! The first of the winter season started out slow with not many big storms, but some big storms in late January and February made for some spectacular snowmobiling in February and March here in Wyoming.

Spring on the Wyoming and Utah border is a great time of year. The wildlife is active, and it is common to see deer, elk, moose, and many ducks and geese on the property.  The snowy mountains and the green valleys create some beautiful scenery and the opportunities for outdoor recreation are endless.

Large groups that want to snowmobile and fish and mountain bike can do all those things in the springtime at Black’s Fork River Lodge. The snowmobiling in the Uinta Mountains is still phenomenal in April and it is just a short 15-minute drive to the snowmobiling trailhead into the endless powder and spectacular scenery in the Uinta Mountains.  The dirt roads and trails around the property and up to the mountains are great for biking and jogging for those wanting to get out and enjoy a bike ride or run. In April Black’s Fork River and the fishing pond on the property fish well and those that want to get out and catch some fish can do that in April as well. 

Black’s Fork River Lodge is located just 2 hours from the Salt Lake and Ogden areas in western Wyoming. The Meeks Cabin Trailhead is about 10 miles from the Black’s Fork River Lodge. In the winter this trailhead is a great access point to hundreds of miles of snowmobiling trails and endless powder-filled meadows in the Uinta Mountains.  The Uinta Mountains are along the Utah/Wyoming border and are the highest mountain range in Utah.  They are filled with beautiful high mountain trails and meadows full of powdery snow. We are in the middle of our winter season right now.  During the winter, the Meeks Cabin trailhead just up the road from the lodge is the perfect starting point to access hundreds of miles of snowmobile trails and endless meadows of powder in the high Uinta Mountains. The winter season also offers great outdoor recreation right on the property. Families will enjoy playing in the snow, fishing, sledding, and making snowmen right on the Black’s Fork River Lodge property. In the evening when everyone is ready for rest and relaxation there is a huge hot tub to relax in. There is also foosball, ping pong, and large screen TVs in the lodge for families to have fun at night. 

In the spring Wyoming family vacations enjoy the beautiful flowers, green grass, and mild weather that spring has to offer. At Black’s Fork River Lodge, the snow starts to melt the end of February. This is an amazing time of year due to the mild weather, great opportunities to see wildlife and waterfowl, and even the opportunity to go snowmobiling in the Uinta Mountains above the lodge. 

Spring at Black’s Fork River Lodge is an amazing time of year. Starting the first of March, the daytime temperatures are mild, and it is perfect for families to enjoy playing outside with just a light coat on.  Families that enjoy seeing wildlife and birds will love this time of year as the wildlife is still down in the river bottom and have not moved back up into the mountains yet.  As you get into April and early May the opportunity to see baby animals is high.  Deer, elk, moose, and waterfowl all have their young around Black’s Fork River Lodge and lucky guests can see these baby animals in the spring. 

For those families that do not want winter to leave the opportunity to play and snowmobile in the snow is still available in the spring. The Meeks Cabin Trailhead is just a few miles up the road from the lodge. This trailhead will take you up into some of the most beautiful mountains in the western United States. The gorgeous Uinta Mountains have hundreds of miles of snowmobiling trails and endless meadows of fresh powder for snowmobiling enthusiasts to play in. Families with children can enjoy playing in the snow and snowmobiling late into May most years in the Uinta Mountains.

Wyoming Family Snowmobiling Lodge

This week at Black’s Fork River Lodge we have been getting a good amount of snow. It looks like the snow is going to continue with snow in the forecast for five of the next eight days. The start of the winter was dry, but with the recent storms and the storms in the forecast this next week the snow is piling up fast. Families are enjoying snowmobiling, sledding, playing in the snow, and soaking in the hot tub in the evenings. 

As the snow piles up in the Uinta Mountains above the lodge the snowmobiling gets to be spectacular in February and March. The snowmobile trails that wind hundreds of miles through the Uinta Mountains take riders to some of the most beautiful mountain scenery you will ever see, and the powder-filled meadows are incredible fun for everyone in the family.  The Meeks Cabin Trailhead just up the road from the lodge is the perfect access point for snowmobiling groups to get into the gorgeous Uinta Mountains and enjoy the world-class snowmobiling on the Wyoming/Utah border. 

For the young children in the group there is great sledding right on the property, and plenty of snow to build a snowman and a snowball fort. When the children get cold the huge in-ground hot tub is great for children to use as a small swimming pool in the winter.  Most families have a hard time getting the children out of the warm water in the wintertime. In the evenings playing games by the warm fire, enjoying the ping pong and foosball tables, and watching movies are some of the favorite family activities.

February and March are some of our favorite months of year in Fort Bridger, Wyoming. The snow-covered trees and the ice on the Black’s Fork River are gorgeous. The snowmobiling is spectacular, and the mountains are peaceful and beautiful. Come out and see what is so special about this time of year!

Winter in western Wyoming is a beautiful time of year. The snow covers the ground and the makes the outdoors quiet and peaceful. Black’s Fork River Lodge in Fort Bridger, Wyoming is a family lodge that is a great way for your family to enjoy this special time of year.
