The summer is halfway over, and families have been gathering at Black’s Fork River Lodge every day of the summer enjoying all the summer fun on the property and nearby in the Uinta Mountains. Here are a few of our favorite summer adventures in the Uinta Mountains above the lodge.
The Meeks Cabin Reservoir recreation area is one of our favorite summer recreation destinations in the Uinta Mountains and it is just up the road from the lodge about 20 to 30 minutes. This area is one of our favorites because there is so much to do in this beautiful area. There are gravel roads that go up into the Uinta Mountains from Meeks Cabin Reservoir to several lakes and rivers. Groups that enjoy jeeping and riding OHVs will love this area. There are so many dirt and gravel roads to explore; this is an excellent area for exploring in your OHV or jeep. There are several lakes and streams that you can drive to on these mountain roads. Fishermen will love to explore this area with a fishing rod and fish for cutthroat, brook, and rainbow trout. Hiking trails are also abundant in this area and many avid hikers and families explore the Uinta Mountains by foot from the Meeks Cabin Reservoir recreation area.
The Henry’s Fork Trailhead is also a great access into the Uinta Mountains near the Black’s Fork River Lodge. Groups and families that love the mountains will enjoy exploring out of this trailhead. The trailhead goes into the high Uinta Mountains and is a great trail for hiking and horseback riding. Families that want to go on a beautiful hike or fish high mountain lakes or streams will enjoy this trail. Avid hikers can even hike up to King’s Peak from this trailhead and summit the highest mountain in Utah.
The Uinta Mountains are beautiful any time of year, but in the summer and fall months the access into the Uinta Mountains is easy and the scenery is spectacular. We hope to see you and your family this summer or fall at Black’s Fork River Lodge for some outdoor adventures in the Uinta Mountains.
