Spring has come to Black’s Fork River Lodge. The sun is shining, and the fish are biting.  Deer and moose are spending the evenings feeding on the banks of the river.  This is a beautiful time of year at Black’s Fork River Lodge and there is lots of great recreation during a spring vacation for everyone in your family to enjoy both on the property and in the Uinta Mountains up the road from the lodge.  Here are some of our favorite spring recreation activities to do with our family at Black’s Fork River Lodge.

Fishing on the Black’s Fork River.  During the months of March and April before the runoff starts the fish are hungry and the fishing can be good. This is a great time to fish the Black’s Fork River for some nice brown and rainbow trout.  The flows are just about right in the early spring and the fishing can be great on warm afternoons before the runoff starts in May.  When the runoff begins in May and the flows get high on the river, the Black’s Fork River Lodge Pond is a great place for families to fish. The pond fishes well in May and June.

In March and April, the Uinta Mountains still have lots of snow and snowmobiling is a great family activity in the early spring.  The Meeks Cabin Trailhead is up the road about 10 miles from the lodge and is a great access for families staying at the lodge to go snowmobiling and snowshoeing.  It is easy to take the snowmobiles up for a day ride and to let the children play in the snow in the beautiful Uinta Mountains.

On the Black’s Fork River Lodge property there is a volleyball area down by the river for families to play volleyball during the warm afternoons in the spring. There is also a basketball hoop and lots of large lawn areas to play lawn games and sports.

Spring family vacations also love to sit in the hot tub and by the gas fire pit overlooking the river during the spring evenings. Spring is the perfect time of year to relax in the hot tub and watch the wildlife drinking from the river in the evenings.

We hope to see you and your family soon at Black’s Fork River Lodge for a spring vacation!
